The Best Algea Eating Shrimp?

For what type of algae? IMO amano shrimp are best though.

Of course, you should never expect any algae eating animal to solve algae issues, though they can speed up algae removal once conditions are right :).

Is flat on the glass? Is it hairy?

Amano shrimp are common at most lfs, if they don't have any, ask them to see if thy are getting any in soon, or if they will order some in for you.

There's places on the net to get them too, but postage is expensive.

They are OK, but not as good as amano shrimp.

As I said though, if you have algae problems now, adding live stock to fix that wont fix it completely, if they really like eating that algae, another species of algae will just grow in it's place once they have eaten it all.
