I bought some cubes of frozen bloodworms for my fish... The name is gross and all that, but ok.. I can do it for my fish....

I defrosted them under running water as I had read somewhere I should do.... but oh my GOSH, lol that was sooooooo disgusting, I wasnt sure if I could hold my cookies long enough to feed the fish lol.....Luckily I managed, and they loved 'em to bits (literally) .. but I don't want to ever see them defrosted again if I can help it ! lol :)

Anyway, my question is, can I get away with giving them the frozen cube? Or do they need to be defrosted first, and I should just make hubby take over this job, 'cause EWWWWWWWWW lol.....

Ive been putting mine in frozen, till i read this forum Lmao...!!! I kinda defrost them a little now, but yes i agree its very messy !!

I have also halved what amount i have been giving them, i was putting a whole cube in, so now i just give them half that amount... :D

The best way to thaw them is to dip a little tank water up in a plastic cup and drop a cube in. You can simply swirl it around a little to help speed the thawing or take a spoon or stick and stir it. Once it's thawed, sumply pour them in the tank. I use that method to thaw all the frozen foods I use. You never have to touch them.

Edit: One note about bloodworms: They are very high in protein so be careful not to feed them too often. They are a little more difficult for fish to digest. Bettas especially love them but I don't give them bloodworms more than once a week and then only a couple small ones.
