Fish Fanatic
I've had my aquarium up and running for a close to 3 months now. It took a very long time for it to cycle (3 weeks for the ammonia level alone!), but it's been stable now for several weeks, and I've been able to get most of the fish that i want. Some fish i was (wisely) recommended against due mostly to tank size considerations, but I'm happy with my tank now.
I've lost one fish, but that was not due to any error of mine. My male gourami sustained a laceration to his head in a tank scuffle and didn't recover, even after being treated. The long-winded point I'm making is this: you all have helped tremendously with tons of suggestions, encouragement and praise. This tropical fish forum has proven most helpful! I've had a great deal of experience with tropical fish, but none in the past 10 years, and none that I started successfully on my own.
Needless to say, I'm glad my new tank experience has thus far proven mostly stress-free. Thanks for the assistance!
