Hi i have looked at the subscription offers on PFK.There is one for a years supply of magazines (13 issues) and your also get tth TetraTec EX700 for £45.80.Would this filter ne any good for a marine setup as well as using live rock, or would be a complete waste of money
Thanks

I am a newbie and orderd a ex 700 . :hyper:
Was looking for a cheaper filter than eheim, saw tetratec in one of the forums in here.

Think some parts like the taps easily broken but instantly replaced by Tetra.
Some had a primeing problem and tetra fixed that as well.

Shipped from germany they have a mains adaptor.

Other than that it was cheaper than an eheim and all the filter media is supplied, i like the spray bar.
Reviews are good and it is a quiet runner, some people love the ex 1200 but for a 25 gallon tank i think that would be overkill. :shout:

This is a replacement for my Interpet/Hydor prime 20 plus.
Ibroke it trying to put the top part on and broke the plastic casing, i wanted a filter with a top that i could remove without flooding the place and as the top was a pig to remove and change the media i wanted something easier.

Got to wait 4 days to play with it.

lol are your using it for FW or SW

I have one of these filters for my 120 liter marine tank. I also saw the PFK offer, but since I'm only interested in marines I didn't take the subscription, and bought my tetratec off an eBay shop, (new) it was a bit cheaper - got it for about £70 I think....

It works just great, it's totally silent, very useful for putting bags of activated carbon and rowaphos in there. The only issue I've had is putting the lid back on - you have to position the lid over the canister, then open the return valve first then snap the lid on with the 4 catches, as the water needs somewhere to go (you can't compress water). This isn't mentioned in the instructions, so before I figured this out, I had a real fun time trying to get the lid back on with both return valves shut!!!

(I've never had an external canister filter before...so what do I know?! )
