Hi All,

Just a quick one hopefully. I have a Tetratec EX600 external filter and I'm looking to replace the inlet and outlet tubes.
I'd assumed these would be pretty much standard sizes however reading the Tetratec specifications, the tube internal diameter is 11.3mm and as far as I can see most places sell 12/16mm tubing. I appreciate there is not much in it but don't want to flood the place for the sake of 0.7mm! Are these different or is it a case of the manufacturers being very precise and the retailers 'rounding up'. Alternatively, will I have to go back to Tetratec for compatible hoses for this unit?

Thanks in advance
Mike

Have a look at warehouseaquatics , they sell replacement parts for tetratec ex filters :good:

Nice one - I assume therefore that these 11.3mm hoses are 'non-standard' or dedicated to Tetratec kit only?

I even tried that number after converting to inches hoping to find a common size but it didn't work out in those units either. Sorry but I am afraid they are following the lead of many other manufacturers by making something that can only be replaced by them. If you could get the tubing anywhere, it would cost much less and would be available in a hardware store. I ran into the same problem when trying to replace hoses on my Toms Rapid filter and ended up tossing the filter rather than deal with their silly buying limits where there was no other place I could get a new hose. In this case, I wanted to replace the hose the day I bought the filter but never did track down an alternative. When it finally needed something done, I had used it about a year and was completely disgusted.

Thanks for that. I feared the same after googling "aquarium tube internal diameter 11.3mm". The only relevant things that come back are Tetratec related. Very annoying, but worth knowing about before purchasing for those interested in their products. Unfortunately for me I assumed a hose was a hose
Seems a good filter though, shame about the spares.
