I can hear a running water noise coming from my EX1200 that I couldn't hear before I did my last water change. I jiggled it around and no trapped air is coming out.

I didn't prime the filter before switching it back on after the water change, was I supposed to? Is it safe to hit the primer now?

Oh, its running now. So its running but you can hear running water within the filter itself. Maybe there's some debris blocking the inlet inside the filter, turn it off and have a look, then re prime and turn on.

Am I supposed to prime every time I switch it off/on?

Not always. I'm not familiar with tetratec's, but with my eheim it has on/off valves at the end of the hose's (by the filter box) that i turn to off before disconnecting. Therefor it keeps the water in the pipes and filter until i reconnect. Once plugged back in i open the valves and it start's without a problem. As long as the filter box and pipes are full with water it should work fine. Prime to make sure there is no air pockets inside it.

Shake it like a polaroid picture... Heyyy ya!

Be quite vigorous with it, there will be some air in it somewhere. Prime it anytime you want. I don't ever bother though tbh.

and now I'm singing that #40## song!
