I have five flame tetras that school really well. I am hoping to get some new tetras to add to my aquarium in the future - and would prefer some that school. Right now I'm just looking around trying to decide what kind. Originally I was thinking neons, but have heard they don't school well.

Here are the species available at my IFS:
Neon
Black neon
Black skirt
Cardinal
Head and tail light
Glowlight
Congo?
Glass
Rummy nose

Does anyone have any experience with any of these fish? Do some of them school better than others? I'm thinking about a group of 6-10.

Thanks in advance.

I have some whiteskirts which are like blackskirts. They are pretty interesting and maybe about once a week I see them really school in my 29 gallon tank. It's cool, like they're playing follow the leader back and forth across the tank. The rest of the time they either slowly move around, dive bomb each other, or just hover seperately.

I like Neon of course although they are not the tight schooler. :( But in your case, I think presense of Bala shark would fix that. Or even the flame tetras since Neon would be small fish in the tank.

Our Glo-Light Tetra school quite well, (hence the name T-Birds lol  )
could just be cos we just recently added them and our bully boy red phantom started getting all territorial  but it looks pretty cool, the albino's look really nice all together with the light on!

of course I'm slightly biased tho' ;)
