Hello!

My blue Half-Moon Betta (Calisto) is in a 10gal with 5 zebra danios, one pearl danio (i will try to get more), and one white molly. I was wondering, should I swap out the danios for a smaller tetra species? I have heard that tetras and rasboras don't mix well with bettas. The Betta has shown some aggression towards the molly and the zebra danios. None of them have gotten hurt because they are a lot faster than him. What should I do? Calisto doesn't swim around much, he just hangs by the heater. Any advice will be greatly accepted.

In my humble opinion, 10 Gallons is WAY too small for Zebra and Pearl Danios...these are a fast moving fish, which enjoy the current and plenty of space to swim as they would in the wild. I would seriously think about swapping these, possibly for some Neon Tetra, or if you're feeling more adventurous, try some of the 'Micro' fish that are available.
Also, as with the vast majority of fish, your Molly would prefer company of 6 or more of it's own kind...again, with your tank being too small, i would think about re-homing this fish also.

Terry.

Thanks Terry. I will consider moving the fish, or returning them to the pet store. But do tetras go well with bettas?

yea they should be fine together neons and beta. just make sure they are in a group and you water stats are good and u should be good to go.

Ime, tetras tend to be nippy. If your betta doesn't swim much, his tail may be nipped relentlessly be the neons. I would do Pygmy Corries with the betta. That is, if you can find them. None of the stores around me carry them.
