hello.
Do you think that a Tetraodon schoutedeni could be housed with a colomesus puffer?
They have similar requirements and have similar attitudes and behaviour to other fish, but haven't read much about the Tetraodon schoutedeni.
It's probably not possible, but what do you guys think?
thanks

Schoutedini is on the whole unavailable. My understanding is that they used to be available a lot, but since the civil unrest in the Congo, they're no longer able to be collected.

that's a shame. They would certainly get mistaken for the green spotted puffer too which need brackish conditions.
I read that they were hard to come across but didn't know they weren't available now.

Sadly true. I think the last time I saw one was maybe 15 years ago. But there are plenty of other puffers you might consider. C. irrubesco in my experience mixes very well with SAPs. The only problem is the SAPs steal their food, but if you put some food in at dawn or dusk for the C. irrubesco, or find something one species like but the other doesn't, you're fine.

Cheers, Neale

When feeding my C. Irrubesco and bbg at the same time, I used to drop in a frozen prawn or two.

The puffer and bbg would tear chunks from it straight away. And afterwards I'd just take out
the half eaten prawn, and bin it.

And It didn't make too much mess either :)

:good: thanks for the advice!
I'm going to read up on that puffer!
haha yeah my SAP's are messy eaters, but they feed from my hand so I'll feed 'em krill.
my SAP's are my favourite fish, they're amazing and a joy to care for.

I have ordered my C. Irrubesco puffers and hopefully they'll get along with my SAP's
should have them by thursday.
I'll keep you all posted :)
cheers.
