Hi,

Four days ago I bought 6 Flame Tetra. One of them sadly died late last night and I have noticed that another is swimming strangely. It is swimming leaning slightly to it's left and almost upright. Does anyone know why this might be and if necessary what to do?

My water Chemistry is fine and is checked daily. My other four Flame Tetra's and Three Corydoras Sterbai seem to be OK (fingers crossed).

Your helpful advice and is always appreciated.

any abnormal swimming behaviour/ balance loss could indicate a swim bladder problem.
try feeding a cooked, deshelled, garden pea. this acts as a laxative and may clear any blockages that could be pressing on the swim bladder.

other causes could be a bacterial or parastical infection causing the swim bladder to not perform correctly. for bacterial swim blader problems there are anti bacterial meds and you need anti parasitical meds for the parasite.

try the pea fist as this is the most common type of swim bladder problem.

Hi,

Just to let you know the little fella seems to be OK now fingers crossed. He sorted himself out.

I thought it was going to be terminal. PHEW!

I didn't have to try the pea idea but I'll remember that in case I have a problem like this again.

Thanks Wolf your a well of knowledge.
