Quite simply, do they mix? Is cat litter a small and smooth enough grain that it won't damage the corys whilst they are digging? I'm slowly coming around to the idea of using cat litter as a substrate instead of a posh proper planting substrate for my immenient rescape.

Can anyone post some pictures up of a cat litter substrate tank please?

Go to agros, Buy playsand. 15KGs for 2.99. 2 bags will last you a lifetime.

The Tesco cat litter will be absoloutely fine some grains look big but although they are not hollow they seem it so in water they seem to be light and can easily be shifted. I found the pets at home stuff to be larger.

I have clown loach and hoplos and have also had corys at one time and it never bothered them at all, I think they would obvously prefer sand to sift through but the cat litter will not do no harm.

This is my tank a while ago with cat litter a mix of Tesco and Pets at home stuff, go to the end of the video to see good shots of the substrate. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BV01Goz_eLk
