in my 126L community i have 3 cherry barbs one male and two females. the females are very peaceful but the male is becoming increasingly territorial. he has gone a very deep red colour which i guess means he want the females to have his eggs :*) but he used to only chase the females around but he is even chasing the cories around now... is this him trying to get everyone away from his girls?

he also has a go at my shrimp sometimes. poor shrimpy just going about his own business eating algae. is there anything i should do to stop my mischevious barb? or is it perfectly normal?

any advice would be very much appreciated - i thought cherry barbs were described as 'peaceful community fish'.

I no i have a cherry barb, had 3 of them but the other two died to gill flukes, he chased my corys around, so had to move him to another tank, they are little charactors, he lives with the tetra's now, and i think he thinks he one of them now, plenty of hiding spaces for the other fish.

i agree they definitely have big personality for a small fish. the way that little male behaves you would think he is a shark!

I no i've seen mine in action, but he settled down now, lovely fish though personality wise.
