Hi, i got these as a birthday present ( wish i hadnt), not that i dont like them, they are just so much work and i already have 4 dogs.

Basically what it is, i have a 2 foot tank that they are in, with a filter constantly running, i wouldnt say the filter is great, i got it with a gold fish tank, and a heater.

however, the water becomes murky and dirty rather quickly and this tanks smells so bad it becomes unbearable. I dont know what to do to keep this clean, i dont have any fish anymore, and this is the most complex fish species i have had. I dont know where to start and i dont know how to look after them

Could someone please please help?

i need a step by step guide in what to use in my tank and what order it is set up. If someone could tell me a rough little guide it would be appreciated, as i dont want to have to give these away, but if i dont get help on how to keep the tank clean and smell free, i may have too!

i dont want to spend alot of money on equipment either, i dont have alot, im just a student so cant really afford to go all out on parts.

Thanks everyone.

Firstly, if they are the type I think they are, 2 feet is way too small. Up the tank size and the smell might go away. Or, you could switch to a extremely large filter.

i used to have these as a kid in a 2ft, they smelt really bad if you didnt clean the tank every 2 days or so, the only way is bigger tank and bigger filter,, 2ft is way to small for any terrapins imo
