terra cotta pot

i know i've seen this topic before, but what's the deal with terra cotta pots not being safe for bettas? they are poisonous? i know i've seen them in many members' tanks. can anyone recommend a good brand, or good place to get them? i did buy one but i'm afraid to put it in my betta's tank. i know i've seen someone say to test it using vinegar, but i don't remember what to do. anyone?

just put vinegar on it.... it will fizz if it isn't safe.

hey i have a pot in my betta tank and my guppy tank and my community tank and it doesnt seem to change anything in the water and my betta is happy and healthy aswell as all my other fish.
