Hi,

I have been miss advised by a local fish shop and bought two small corals which are not doing too well under my low light system. Basically they never open up (if you know what I mean).

I am planning to upgade my system in two months and get a t5 light unit. I am hoping a kind local member of the forum would able to house them for me untill then. I regually go to Portsmouth and sometimes Chichester/Bognor Regis if this helps.

If any one can help I would be very greatful.

wet and windy cornwall so im not anywhere near you. Why not takeit backto teh shop and ask them to take care of them for you ? If you are going to purchase the lights from them then its in their best interests too surely.

Bloody oath, even if it gets you Store Credit to spend there again. Just in interest, what lighting do you have? I cannot tell the species of coral on the RHS, but the leather should do okay under a couple of T8 flouros.

Thanks for your help so far guys...

I need to my hands on some sort of device to allow me to zap around the country in a couple of seconds

I have spoke to the store and they have basically told me they dont give refunds and its my fault (I supose they are right). But a bit annoyed, so wont be going back there in a hurry. Well I have T6 lights (they fit into the juwel tw fittings but are thiner), they are quite powerful and my other corels musrooms etc are doing well. But the leather hasnt ever had the little things coming out of it, it did have them in the store, so I think it must be my lighting even though I have put it now in the top of my tank.

Mike, i would be happy to help out, i live in Horsham, urm which how can i say is 15 min drive from gatwick? As for the leather seems strange it should be fine under that lighting..... how long it not came out for? plus whats your parameters. I have had a leatherr before and soon it was annoyed with the water it didnt come out for days.

Could be also the change in lighting you no think? Does your LFS run MHs under their corals? i know mine do.

Whats the one on the right though?

place the leather in an area where it gets good flow but not in direct flow of powerheads. As long as it gets movement over its body it should be fine. Leave it for about a week and see what happens. These corals hate being touched and will close up. place it correctly and leave it and you might be suprised. The lights you mention should be good enough to keep such corals.

Thanks for your offrs of help, but as no one live close I think I will have to hang on for the mo. I may just be panicing about the leather as its only be in a week. Iwill leave it for another week and see what happens, I put some photoplan in the water every week so I heope it can still eat.

BTW N1z I love your tank, I want to get a rio300 in the next few months so I can upgrade my lights and have more room for my regal tang.

Good luck m8, tbhi wld not go to that shop for a long time that shows they are crap. :hyper:

Thanks mike, taken me a long time, tbh i would say try and go custom you will save loads of money as really, your paying for for stuff you wont use :good: i just use the glass and cabinet, or you can buy the cabinet and get a tank cut to that size, saves you a bit of money.
