On the emergency board, kindly readers have suggested we need to heat our sick Betta's habitat. But until I can get a 5-gal. tank set up and running, is it possible and safe to use the 25-Watt Stealth Visitherm heater in my Aquatic Gardens 1-gallon UGF tank? The guy at PetCo sold it to me today knowing my tank situation.

But it just barely fits on the diagonal across the front of the tank. And, it is not completely submerged at the top. Being new, I am uncertain if this is safe. The instructions say it should be vertical or horizontal in the tank.

Any thoughts or personal experiences appreciated.

I personally find that the instructions regarding the vertical or horizontal placement of a heater on the back are more about making sure that it sits in the ideal place to heat the tank evenly.

However, with it sticking out of the water I would be a tad dubious as I'm sure many people on here, when new, learned that heaters left on out of water aren't best happy (I know I certainly did  )

Hope this helps

I have a 1 uk gallon I use as a hospital tank,I dont bother with a heater I simply place it on top of one of my other tanks and the heat from the hood keeps it warm.
