I wrote this at the end of my other post, but I'm suspecting it must need it's own thread? so I copied and pasted and changed some of the things to past tense :p
Here goes:

One gallon acrylic tank with light

Tatsumi or Tsunami (we haven't decided yet) has been flaring at his reflection in the acrylic tank... but he's not doing a full flare, just enlarging his gills.

Last night I used water from my 29 gal to fill his tank but I find it a bit cloudy this morning... so i DID a water change. and removed the UG filter and bubbler.

The water temp stays pretty well even except at night... woke up this morning and his water was really chilly... Would it be unhealthy for him to keep the light on all night to keep his water warm? I realize that the aerator probably helped cool off his tank and taking it away might help, but what else can I do other than keeping his light on?

Hmmm...I may be wrong, but I think it is very hard to have a heater in a one gal tank. The only suggestion I have for you would be to keep it in a warm room, have a light on it during the day (make sure the light doesn't get too hot to cook the fish).

Although now that I think of it I did see a 25 wat heater at a lfs so you might want to look into that.

Anyway...good luck.

I think keeping the tank on at night is a no-no  . The best you could do is keep it in a warm room, or find a itsy bitsy teeny weeny, yellow polka dot bikini... no, wait, i mean heater, not bikini...(got carried away...)

P.T.

If you have no water movement in the tank the heater will read the temp from the water that is immediatley surronding it, the heater will heat this body of water up to the right temp but none of the other water. None of this warm water (around the heater) can be circulated so the rest of the tank does not get hot. As they day is warmer than the night this is why your getting heat fluctuations, I would add something to stir the water up a bit e.g aereator :D

Tatsumi (yup we've decided) seems much happier now that his bubbler is out of there. Not that it was causing too much current for him... but it was cooling off his tank way too fast. It's sort of like stirring a bown of warm soup... stir it enough and all the warmth escapes. He finally managed to eat ONE betta pellet and the little rascal waited and waited until I left the room to do it.
Today was the first day he ate (I had him since Sunday)... This morning I put a pellet in there and he checked it out but went to the other end of the tank. After 1/2 hr I took it out of there and Tatsumi seem perturbed about that because it went to the exact spot it had been floating to as soon as I was out of his tank. I decided to put a fresh pellet in and he once again checked it out but ignored it... but as soon as I left the room to go take my shower and came back... the pellet had disappeared! He's a secretive eater.
I did leave his light on all night last night and I think he pulled an all nighter cuz of it! -_- because I woke up at 4:00 AM and he was still swimming around his tank. My gosh he's an active boy! I thought you guys said that they're lazy??? I'd say he's as active as a guppy! And he still hasn't slept that I know of! When I finally got up at 7:30 he had a pretty little bubble nest happening, and I checked his water and it's nice and comfy.
I don't want to keep leaving his light on because he'll die of exhaustion! Tonight I'll put a towel around his tank to insulate it during the night (My room gets pretty cool at night)
BTW... He's just a common veil tail and he doesn't even fully flare out when he flares.... the tail and his lower fin get all fluffy, but his top fin doesn't fluff out. I don't care, I still think he's the prettiest thing since my daughter was born! :)

Here I go again... writting a novel! Sorry
