I have an Eheim thermo filter running rowaphos and my UV, it has a digital thermometer which reads 77 degrees but my glass thermometer reads 78.5 even when placed together they read different?
Which do you think should I take as the correct reading? :dunno:

One way to do it is get another thermometer that you feel is accurate. You need a third party thermometer. Which ever two match are probably the right ones.

I personally trust glass thermometers more than digital or LCD (unless its a mega-expensive digital of course) and I use two in the main tank and two in the sump for cross-referencing. Also, due to water having a high latent heat capacity it heats up slowly and loses heat slowly so areas with little or no flow in your tank can be cooler than the main body of water. These areas are usually small enough not to be a problem.
