Telephone Box Fish Tank

logistically what a nightmare to heat let alone do simple maintenance.

i'd also point out the write up states "The translucent phone box, ..., is filled with colourful tropical fish"
I can clearly see a koi in it

Aye, i noticed that too.

What makes me laugh, if that if it was anything to do with "cute" animals like rabbits, cats etc, people would be making a huge fuss about it...

I dread to think!!!!

Would need an armed guard round here! The mindless morons who think it's fun to shatter the toughened glass out of the 2 bus shelters outside the old folks home EVERY Friday or Saturday night would have a 'field day' with that

Don't want to be a killjoy (ok, so I do) but when will people realise fish are not playthings. We keep fish for pleasure, sure, but at least we try to make their inviroment someways near stress-free as possible.

Anyways, *gets off his soap-box*........thanks for sharing :good:

Doesn't look like there's any tropical fish in there. I see the koi already mentioned, and at least two fantail goldfish, and one that looks like a comet. If it is coldwater fish, that could ease the issues of heating it. I don't see any inherent problem with the tank, provided it was properly set up and maintained, and by the sounds of it, it's just for a festival, meaning it'll be taken down before too long. Though, who knows what'll become of the fish when it is.

Well done for bringing the joys of overreaction and jumping to conclusions to this forum too Esfa. :good:

Funnily enough, I don't see advertising cruelty to animals as a good thing.

Not a strange comment. If it is for a festival and will be removed after it, and I agree there are no tropical fish in that tank then whats the problem with it? Its certainly not cruel!!

Do you know how many people will be tapping the glass??? I don't think it's a good idea, especially not in such a metropolitan area.

And neither do I! My life is devoted to the conservation of animals and upholding an ethical approach to all things that involve live animals.

Why can't you ever see the non-sensational version of anything???

As said elsewhere by many other animals lovers, you have no idea of the facts behind that artwork/exhibition/temporary aquarium or whatever it is.
I find it unimaginably sad that you have nothing better to do than grasp at the worst possible situation simply to give your day some excitement.

You dont always have to be the biggest, loudest vigilante it doesnt proove anything to anyone.
The "aquarium" could have been there less than 24 hours for all you know, in which case is it more or less stressful than what fish undergo while in transit to your LFS?
Is it more or less stressful than the average LFS? which is full of tanks too small for the full sized fish and probably getting tapped on all day long.
Is it of any relevance that the article on it by an independent source accidently called them tropicals when they arent?
Weigh it up and realise that all you know is there is a picture of some koi carp amongst others in, what is for all intents and purposes a large aquarium (mocked up as a phonebox or not...)

Just take a breathe, sit down and maybe your fishtanks can relax you.
Cheers!

no offence but why are some people turning this thread into an argument instead of actually focusing on what the thread is actually about...for gods sake.

Anyway..although it might look good..as other people said above..vandals are probs gunna try and damage it :(

Edit: oh btw there really was no need for the post above mine..your just being argumentative.

Lotte, I see where you're coming from!

But how many people do you think say that, assumed that goldfish can be kept in a tank with no filtration etc, and went and bought one?

Not nice. :(

Im sure if they were doing something similar with dogs, cats etc.. then even if it was for only 24 hours, then there would be hoo hah!

"what is for all intents and purposes a large aquarium"

yeah, but i suppose the point is that it's "advertising" a not very suitable aquarium, and goldfish get a bad enough rep as it is....

Where does it say there is no filtration?
