Bit difficult to describe - please bear with me....

I have a 2 ft square tank, 3 ft deep.
My intention is to have 4 15W 18 inch long lights - one on each side. This will enable easy access to the tank - I didn't want them on the underside of the lid area.

I am thinking of using a 30W ballast kit with two bulbs in series, allowing me to use only two starters instead of four.

Has anyone found any problems in using such a set up, if so, what?
If you have tried this system and it works OK, please let me know!

I can't see this working.

The ballast might have enough power for both, but it will still only give a suitable output voltage for one. When connected across both of them in series, each tube will only be getting half the normal voltage, which won't be enough.

edit... you can buy twin ballasts though, so you would still only have two.
