Miss Dib Dabs
Loony.
I have a youngish female gouramie I have just seperated from the main tank because I noticed her struggling to swim. Her spine is bent and it very much reminds me of tb. She is still eating, hasn't lost her good colour etc. Water params (Cos I know you like em) Ammonia 0, NitrItes 0, NitrAtes at last check 12.5. Tank temp around 25 degrees C and ph of a shade under 8.
Naturally I took her out immediately on discovering her shape but.....she's always been the one who was hiding in the undergrowth, bottom of the pecking order and never grew as big as the others. Is it possible she's ended up growing deformed because she never swam as freely as the others and chose to wrap herself in plants as she grew up? What I think of when I look at her (Apart from tb) is that her spine continued to grow while the rest didn't. It worries me either way of course and I am aware gouramies are susceptable to tb.
What can I do?
Hugs,
P.
