Tawny Catfish

hey guys new to the site and looking for a wee bit of help just purchased catfish from lfs and was told it is a tawny catfish but cant seem to find any info on it was wondering if anyone could give some info thanks.

Without a picture, it's going to be difficult - a google search found reference to the 'tawny dragon catfish' (Tachysurus fulvidraco). According to the info on this fish (I have linked to the species page of PlanetCatfish for reference), and on the assumption it is the same fish as the one you have purchased, it gets to nearly 14" SL, so unless you have a big tank, I'd suggest you return it to your LFS and tell them the info you have found, in the hope that it will only be sold to someone with a suitable tank.
If it's not this fish, then I think a picture would be needed to get a proper ID.
