I noticed that when i turned on my hot water, it gets a bit cloudy. The cold water is pretty clear though. Does anybody know why this is? And can this be the reason my tank water is cloudy as well?
I have noticed a similar response when i turn on my hot water taps...its completely fine. But i hope you arent putting hot water in your fish tank. Water should be room temperature unless you are filling it for the first time. Remember cycling guidelines too!
You should use boiled cold water to bring up the temperature of your water for changes, the only tap in the house with drinking water is in the kitchen, Water out of your hot tap can contain all sorts of nasties, especially if it is a copper tank and piping. These can lower your fishes immunity to disease
I don't know all the chemistry behind it, but it has been my experience
having owned homes that hot water piping is more prone to deposits and buildups
on the inside of piping, especially in areas with harder water. This could
give you some initial cloudiness, but in my experience it clears after a minute or two.
the reason why i turn on the hot water is to balance out the tempature. and the thing is i let it sit for about 15 mins and it is still cloudy. I just did a water change today and i boiled cold water, and it was fine. Tank looks a little clearer, so i'll just continue with the routine. THanks for all the advice!.
