Will leeching of tannins into water affect the apitite of herbivorous fish?

It has been shown that in ungulates such as giraffe tannins are used as a defence mechanism by the plants and are therfore produced during peak browsing times (dawn and dusk).

Just wondered if this was true for aquatics?

I doubt it- tannins are present in many bodies of water (anywhere wood falls into water) and presumably don't stop the fish living there feeding.

you can look at it as what it what it would be like in the nature. it mimics the blackwater conditions in parts of south america, so its a benefit to fish and plants, i dont think it would effect the herbivorus fish, fish dont really need much to eat anyway
