I'm getting some bogwood for my albino tank, and was wondering whether its beneficial to the bettas health to give them some of the tanniny water? I know IAL adds tannins.

Tannins do not in any way harm or benefit the fish. It's a nice decoration though :)

Just wondering. As I said, IAL adds tannins to the water and thats beneficial, so I waswondering if tannins from bogwood are. My 20 is very tanniny indeed

Actually bloozoo2, tannins are thought to be beneficial to certain types of fish (bettas included) and even to other species... such as ourselves! :) The tannins in tea are part of the reason it is such a healthy drink.

I say add some of the tannin-y water to the bettas if you like... it certainly can't hurt, and they may very well enjoy it. Tannins are present in their natural habitat, and having tannins present in the water is thought to help induce spawning, so obviously there's something about it that they like ;)
