This is my beginning tanks stand design. Im going to make the rest of the design with the tank on top and canopy later.

Here is is with plywood on it.

By the way I want people to comment on how I should change this to make it more sturdy.

What size tank are you making this for?
If it's for a 55 gallon and under you should not need the extra support pieces in the middle, or on top. The bottom one I can see because of adding a tank down below. This looks very similar to a stand that I made for my 29 gallon tank.

is the door going to slide open??

It look very good. I am bussy making almost the same this, and my pictures are also on the forum, my problem currently is having to wait for the resin to dry..

the canopy have to be waterproof, mine has a sump at the bottom and the water spash on the inside when I clean it or do a water change. this might cause problem in the long run so I am sealing the inside..

in total the idea look very very good.

Looking good FloridaFishGuy!!! What program did you end up using??? Looks like you've got a pretty good handle on it.

There is a couple of little things I would change. Instead of having the tank rest on the legs, I would build a rectangle just like on the bottom and have the legs going between the top and bottom rectangles, with the tank resting completely on the top rectangle instead of the legs. This way it's a lot easier to sand/plane if you have a high spot. I guess a piece of foam or something would help even things out, but I would still prefer the tank sitting on a complete rectangle. Also, you don't need all the extra cross-members in the top rectangle. Doesn't hurt, but is a bit of overkill, you really only need one in the middle. I would also run some cross-members between the legs. Just one in the middle of each set of legs, front to back.

I would also change the bottom rectangle a bit. I would cut the long pieces shorter, and have the end pieces run the width of the tank. With your leg pieces in the orientation that they are, it will help distribute the load evenly over the bottom rectangle, instead of just on the front and back pieces. This way, the corner leg pieces will be sitting on both the front/back and side pieces, instead of just the front or back. Do the same with the top rectangle.

Good luck and be sure to post some pics when done!!! :D

Silly me: Yes the doors will slide open. My plan is that the 2 10g's will be for hospital/fry tanks and will be hidden all the time inless I am doing w/c on the.

Carrcn: I used Cinema 4D. It is not a architectural program but I use it often in my animation class so im pretty good at it. I dont exactly get what you are saying so can you make me a simple outline of what you think I should change in the program you use.

I would add metal brackets forming triangles on the frame. also lights for underneath would be good(not sure if you were planning that)

Yes I will have lights underneath becuase the doors to the bottom are going to stay closed most of the time. As for metal brackets it would be good for the support but i dont know that i would need them.

Looks good. This will be for a 55g but I might be getting a 90g for $130 but still desiding on that. If i get the 90g I will probably have to make more sturdy

Thanks for the help Carrcn. If I can get ahold of a digital camera when I build the stand I will take some pics and post them.
