tank smell

i have sand subtrate could the dead spots of the sand be causing my tank to smell :-(

If it smells like rotten eggs, then it's dead spots in the sand. Please advise what the smell smells like.
 
The sand doesn't look deep enough in that photo for you to have dead spots. Do you have an ammonia problem? Amonia will cause the tank to smell and I could imagine it smelling piss like. lol

The last time my tank smelled was because plants that I had were rotting (it was the roots). It was horrible! :sick:

I'd do a water test and then a biggish water change and stir the sand a bit because it can't hurt.
 
Throw some extra carbon in your filter and it will solve the problem in a few minutes.

i thought that myself the sand is not that deep about half an inch i have got zeo carb ill but that in my filter thanks for the advice i also think ill buy a new test kit for the ammonia as the one i got is old thanks for the advice
 
i just added the zeocarb now my canister filter is playing up what a week im having lol :crazy:
