A list of cichlids for newbies..

Oscar - 55g will be fine for at least 2 years but some of these mosters can reach upto 15" but it is rare so you might need to up grade to a 75g. Please note Oscars will claim a 55g tank to them selfs after 6 months of being in the tank.

Red Devils - A very agressive cichlids that max's out at 11", the hybrids in our lfs can hit upto 13" but these guys need there space a 75g is the min tank for these guys, i have one in a 75g at the moment and he will not let any other fish in there now.

Midas - Agressive like the Red Devil and also very like the red devil in looks but they get larger up and at to 16" so again a 75g is the min as they will also claim this tank.

Convict - One of the smaller cichlids at 6" but also highly agressive and should be housed in a 20g tank or higher.

Blue Acara - Up to about 8", tank size should be about 20g or so as they only claim a rock or cave to them selfs.

Green/Gold Severums - A peaceful cichlids that does get rather large but max's out at 12" as this fish are peaceful and dont claim territory to much a 40g will be fine.

Blood Parrot - Some get large but most max out at 9" as these fish have Red Devil/Midas in them and can get agressive a tank of 40g would be able to house 2.

Wolf Cichlid (Dovii) - The monster of all cichlids witch grows to a massive 30" its also the 2nd most agressive cichlid with a huge amount of power it should only be housed in a tank that is 220g or over and it will NOT acept tank mates.

Red Terror - Tank size of 100g or more as the males can hit over 15" and females at 13", also a very agressive cichlid that should only be housed with other agressive cichlids.

Trimac - Like the Red Devil and Midas it needs 75g or more and tank mates should be choosed with extra caution as trimacs dont like to loose fights.

Green Terror - A large cichlid witch reaches sizes of 16" and needs a 75g min.

Jack Dempsy - A very colorful cichlid that max's out at 10" but dont let the smaller size fool you as these guys can pack a punch and take on most commen new worlds, Min tank size 45g

More will be added to the list over time if you have questions about a cichlid that isnt mentioned here please ask in the forum :)

Damian.

when you said "Blue acara,Keyhole" i think you should change it as a keyhole is a dwarf acara and is much more peaceful then a Blue Acara. and they should both be with tottaly different tank mates to eachother.

but good job anyway

If that beast is the second most aggressive cichlid than what's the first?

With the amount of qestions about tank sizes in this forum and the hybrids one i really think you mods should pin this, i do not understand why you wouldnt.
