ok i just got 2 bettas, as read in my other topic, and i would like to know some thing. im planning on getting a 3 or 4 gallon to divide and put in. what do you think:

rocks?

what kind of plants?

what kind of filter?

what kind of heater?

decorations?

thx for all the help.

Rocks - purely up to you. If you like the looks and don't mind a little extra work when cleaning the tank, go for it.

Plants - silk or live, we don't want your new pretty bettas snagging those gorgeous fins! :p

Filter - I'd say either get an azoo palm filter, or sponge filters for each side.

Heater - a 25 watt that isn't a cheapo - in a tank that small you have to be careful

Decorations - Again, it's up to you. I like to give my bettas somewhere to hide, whether it be a pot or rock with holes, something of the sort.

Congrats!! :thumbs:

Well most of that is personal preference really, try to get decorations that are specifically for aquariums. The important thing to remember with a divided tank is that bettas can and will jump over the divider to fight, so make sure that isn't possible. What kind of plants you can keep is entirely dependent on what kind of lighting you have.

ok i understand your point, but im planning on feeding them bloodworms and im afraid they will fall between cracks in the rocks and wont get eaten. as far as rocks with hole, not saying this is right, the instructions on how to care for the bettas was not to put rocks with holes, seeing how many bettas have been lost in their fishroom for this reason. heads get stuck and they die.

R U going to have opaque or transparent dividers??

Rocks = Smooth
Heater = 25 - 50watts
Plants = Live Floating plants (riccia) or other low light plants
Filter = Dont know, not up on filters
Decorations = Pot sounds nice

Yeh, you don't want anything that could potentially trap them underwater, they have to be able to reach the surface to breathe. You also don't want any decorations or plastic plants that are sharp and can snag the long fins. They do enjoy resting on plants and decorations, so choose carefully. If you are worried about the gravel you could use sand instead, debris just sits on the surface instead of sifting down like it does with gravel.

ok...i think im going to go darker with dividers. everything else thx.
