Hi,

Does anyone have an pic's other their channa bleheri setups?

or can they give me any ideas,

I currently have two medium peices of mopani, and am debating if I should plant the tnak or not.
If you think I should plant it, what plants would you suggest?

Right i've never kept one but have watched a s/h in someones tank before. I'd say floating plants that cover the surface would be good then plants like abunias and java ferns and maybe amazon swords. Other fast growing things like cabomda would be good aswel i'd think. Also bogwood to give them a sort of 'cave'.

:good:

I'm going to use the monapi instead of bogwood, just to add variety as my tanks all look the same :D

As for cabomda I've never been able to grow this very well, as it seems to just fall apart, lol, Java Ferm would be an idea, and maybe some java moss as the floating plant?

I've read they like well lit tank? so I dont want to cover the surface TOO much.

Anubias nana would be an idea, I have some swords in my 20gallon tank, but I think they will be too large, I will have to see as I can remove some of them, as they have produced 'sproutlings' which are quite well grown now.

What about hiar grass for the floor of the tank, any ideas on other plants that would do that?

Java moss doesn't float :fun: I've heard of one's flipping out when the tnka light was off some don't like it at all whereas some don't mind it. Could try some hygro. pol. nice fast growing plant. I'd personally using amazon swords, java ferns, abunias and maybe some java moss on the wood. Can't think of many carpeting plants for your kind of tank ATM sorry.

You say Java moss doesn't float, but I was reading an article in professionl fishkeeping magazine a few months back (they have been running a planted aquarium articles for a few months now) and they said it was a mis-noma that javamoss was a submerged plant, as it tended to die off very quickly under water?

I've posted a link on the plant forum about the selection I think I may decide upon. you can find it HERE

Thanks, oh and one other thing they are Anubias not abunias, or are they different :look:

Sorry Anubias are the ones I reccommend, my poor spelling lol. Java moss has never died in my tank or floated

My channa bleheri is in a 6x2x2 with large fish and pretty much no plants. There is a stack of bogwood up against the weir on one side.

I'm not a fan of planting and those in the tank are basically just dying slowly, but that's because I prefer larger fish that need more oxygen and heavier filtration, thus making me install trickle towers.

Here's a pic of before I moved it around. There is now less bogwood on the left, but a higher pile on the right, giving more swimming room to the growing shoals:

that is some BIG bog wood there, and very light in colour too.

Nice setup,a ll the same, I'm still not decided upon realy plants or fake one, I just want to put something in the tank, so it isn't to empty, and thus making the fish feel happier and calmer.

Would my BN be ok with the Snake head?

I think it would be ok to have it with a BN as long as the BN was large. Might be wrong though.

well the Bn is about 3-4" long, and the SN should be smaller or about the same size when I get one.

I've still not heard from the not-so-lfs hope they get it in soon :)

My wood is nearly ready to add to the tank, so I can start setting it up at the end of the week. woohoo!

will have to decide whats happening with the current tank in habitants as no one seems to want to to take my yoyoyo loach, tiger barb or large female platy, for free :D

I might move them back to the polyterus tank, where they lived until about a month ago, when I decided to move them into the new snakehead-to-be tank. :sly:
