Tank Set Up Help Required, Do I Need Pump?

Hello, hope someone can help with the below please.

I have a small - medium tank with 2 goldfish and 1 fantail. I had a filter and air pump combined unit that had a motor on the outside of the tank. It was in bad repair so I went to the local aqaurium and asked about a replacement and the assistant sold me a Fluval 1 underwater filter. No bubbles are coming out. Will the water movement be enough to oxygenate the tank or would I need a seperate airpump?

as long as the surface is being moved by the water from the filter it should be adequate. However, you can have an airstone bubbling away, this will need an air pump to run.

My fluval 4+ came with a small attachment that goes on the pump discharge. It is designed to act as an eductor and pull air from the tank surface into the water flow as it goes back into the tank. I'm not sure but would expect them to have given you something similar to get a few bubbles moving through the water if that is what you are trying to do. It isn't designed to run an air stone or anything, it just puts some bubbles into the water flow.

if the water is moving, then it's all good for the fishies! however, bubbles the water moving much more, which increases the surface are of the water- it would be beneficial to get something... bubbly.
also- i'd keep a close eye on them, as fantail and common goldies often don't get along!

you will be fine but like most of us i think it wont stop there you will be soon thinking of a bigger tank and then you hocked lol like i was it is now my big tank that i was given at the week end sorry the pic was took on my phone
