Hi, ive had my tank for about 5 months. it seems that every thing has gone wrong. so im going to list every thing i did and im doing thats could possibly by causing my plants to die and my tank to be ever lastingly clouded.
i have a peagravel substrate, with laterite and a bottom 1/2 to 1 inch layer of peat moss.
my plants were rotala magenta, rottala wallichii, potamogeton gayi, didiplis diandra, ludwigia repens, tiger lotus,
dwarf baby tears, red rubin sword, dwarf sagitteria, anubias coffefolia, and hygropholia. the potamogeton, didiplis, and both rotalas, have died. the dwarf baby tears and the sagitteria arent doing so good. i have 14 neon tetras, and a pleco. i have a penguin bio wheel 350. i started adding seachem but stopped when the tank clouded severly. i started up again when the tank started to clear but then it clouded again so i stopped. i do water changes every three to four days. i just recently did a 95% water change but the tank clouded again. my dad said that maybe i should put in an under gravel filter , because he's done many aquariums and never had a cloud up and as many problems before. he said that i just dont have enough nitrifing bacteria, which is causing a huge cloud up from a nitrite spike , or a huge algae bloom. i am very frustrated, and am ready to take the aquarium down. could i please have some advice :( :( :(

Undergravel filters are not good with planted tanks.

How big is the tank? What lighting are you using? plants need a good light source. Do you have as test kit to check the levels of ammonia, nitrite and nitrates?

http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/ this is a forum just for planted tanks. Try asking them for help.

What is the size of the tank?
Is the tank in direct sunlight?
What lighting system do you have?
How often do you feed the fish and what?
What are your tank stats?
What seachem products are you using?
