took out all the old planting yesterday...

90g tank
ive got the german ebay c02 working but so far the bubble rate doent seem to be completely stable..
lighting wise ive got 4 x 39w t5 [2 deltec sunlight 6000k and 2 dletec aqua flora...]
...rena xp3/ehim 2026..15w uv..tank running for 2 years ..

8 altums, 4 rams, 2 polka dot loach,5 corys, 6/7 ottos, 2 rummy nose tetra

50 straight vallis...hoping for a curtain at the back
chindorus red flame
green cabomba caroliniana
heteranthera zosterifolia seagrass
mixed sword species..

this is so far maybe turning into light planting, medium fish load kind of thing so not sure where its fitting within the EI model

not sure if i should be fertilizing or not yet ?..the tropica plant nutrition plus mentioned by George in this months pfk sounds good..maybe use this 1st then go to full EI....?
do the plants grow at all for the 1st 2 weeks or are they just putting there roots down...? if so maybe is shouldnt dose at all and use a phosphate remover isntead ?

any coments/advice always appreciated

Jon

Very nice!

IMHO, you also need planting in the foreground.... carpet of some sort perhaps to give it a more balanced look. Everything seems to be at the back of the tank.

I would also consider adding a black back gound (perhaps the curtain may negate this though)

Very nice angels and nice background! A black background would really bring out the colors of the vals. For a foreground, maybe try Anubias barteri var. nana on the wood with some more moss.

Just because I'm nosey.... can you please tell me:

What does your substrate consist of?
What ferts will you be using?

well the substrate is mainly gravel with 2 bags of seachem flourite mixed in..

i was thinking of either going staright into ei....or more likely trying Tropica Plant Nutrition liquid..looks good as i have a relatively high fish load ...

i presume i am doing the right thing by using co2 from outset...just not sure if the palnts would take
up any aditional fertilization during the first couple of weeks ?

Those angels are really something.

I'm setting up a new tank soon and plan to include some angels, just hope they look as good as yours.

thanks Steve...

these are real altum angels...in the shops you see alot of peruvian altums which are silver with black bars
and not the same indented snout..

imho...altums really keep a nice slim shape ...not like ordinary angels at full size.
hopefully mine will grow to 12/14 inches height inc fins....

cliche...but the reason i wanted them was becuase of the incredible shots in the Amano books...

dont know if you know about these sites but they are pretty darn good...
