I am looking for a 3ft tank and am worried about the possibility of the seams/glass breaking and flooding occuring. I have a some questions about this.
-How thick should the glass be for a 3ft tank?
-What are the best type seams for holding together the glass?
-Does this happen often?
-What are the tell tale signs of a sturdy tank?

Advice is appreciated.

The deciding factor for glass thickness is the top to bottom measurement of the tank. Up to 18in,. 6mm glass is fine; from 18in. to 24in. yopu need 10mm glass; 24in. to 30in. requires 12mm glass, and 30 to 36in. needs 15mm glass. Provided the tank is properly constructed, the modern silicone is extremely strong and durable. I am still using tanks that I made almost 30 years ago, with no sign of deterioration.
