Hey ive been looking around, but just wanted to ask here. I have a 40 gallon tank that i want to move to my new apartment on the second floor but im worried about the weight. Is the 500 lbs or so gonna be too much?

Shouldn't be a problem unless the building is an inspection away from being condemned. My dad had a 55 gallon in his third floor apartment, I had a 65 gallon upstairs for some time.

there should be no problem if the building or structure is sound but i would check first and if you are unsure place the tank near a strong place in the house and place it on the flooring sleepers as this is the strongest place

Shouldn't be a problem, but as said above look for the beams in the floor for strength, if you can pull a few floorboards up to see which way the joists are going...I used to be in a 2nd floor flat and it had solid concrete floor so wasn't a problem. :good:

Just to clarify, you want to have the tank going across as many joists/sleepers as possible rather than having the weight just on one.
