Ive got 16-17 gallon with a betta and a sponge filter... i was thinkin bout gettin some cories? how many could i get? or should i get something else? any suggestions welcome

that sounds good too :D panda cories are the cutest things  i dont' know if the albinos will outgrow them though -_-

thx for the reply. cutecotton, i see you have a female betta community in your sig. My gf is thinking about getting 4-5 female bettas and she wants to keep them in the same tank? any advice on that?

It would be acceptable..6 pandas would be better though. They prefer a group of their own species.

Pandas are jsut under 2" while albino get to 3".

there ya go :D i'm not a cory person -_-

as for my feamle betta tank (glad ur considering it, they're a lovely thing to keep )

as for tips, i'd just make sure you get 3 or 4 (usually 4 is the magic number), since they are bettas, they do get aggressive towards each other. If you only get 2, chances are the stronger one will pick on the waeker one. Getting more will allow the aggression to spread out

a 10g is minimum for them, if you dont' have anything else in the tank, 4 would fit in a 10g nicely. If you have other fish you might need a bigger tank in order to make sure you don't overstock.

Also, make sure it's planted (fake or real, doesnt' matter) and provide lots of hiding spots. the plants and stuff help break up the tension and make sure they won't have an open spot to flare and fight at each other.

eventually the feamles will develop a pecking order, from time to time you'll still see little flaring and nips and chasing around, but it shouldn't be anything too serious  those girls are adorable to watch  they have such attitude! :flex:

anyways :) good luck and HTH
