Tank Light

Hi'Do you change the tank light once a year, or can you leave it longer.I do have plants in the tank Thanks.Mark

I never change the tubes unless they stop working. I do however clean the tube when it`s cold with a damp cloth every week when I do my water change

In a planted tank a T8 probably should be changed every 18 months ish, a T5 will go longer than that, probably 2-3 years, in a planted tank the PAR will start to wane. If you don't have an expensive PAR meter you can't really tell as the same light may still be produced by the bulb, the gas inside the bulb is lessened. Plant growth will slow down though.
