ok i have got a 4ft 190litre running at the moment with canister it has fish in it with a canister im going to be selling the fish and will be getting 3 discus preferably 3 inch ones and 3 apistogramma borellis and 6 otto will that work and maybe a ghost knife fish

i'd say this is a good group of fish except the black ghost knife. Black ghost knife fish get well over 20 inches in length and will evebtually eat your ottos and become territorial towards your peaceful discus and dwarf cichlids. i would suggest instead to get two more dwarfs and another discus for your tank, instead of the large black ghost knife.

i dont think your discus would do well with your dwarf. but i may be wrong. someone with more experience with discus should step in. other than that, the ghost would only be temporary. once it gets big you would have to remove it.
