What are my options for a 48x15x18 tank ?

trying to find an all round good one to make your self it seems like this sort of size hasnt really been done much

and trying to find one is a nightmare as i have an external filter and most that i have found sit on the supports and have a little extention at the back to fit a 15" one which then i would have to modify the pannel

anybody have any ideas ?

If you just wanted to buy one and mod it a bit to include your pipes this will do the job :) else your best off making your own from wood.

I made mine from wood using 6 peices of precut wood from a wood suppliers, 13 screws and 3 hines (with 3 screws in each.) and 5 small blocks

i.e.

Wood

Sides x 2 (length = depth of tank + 2 x width of wood + 1cm)(height = 15cm)
Front and back (length = length of tank + 1cm)(height = 15cm)
Rear Top Panel (Length of tank + 2 x width of wood+1cm)(height = 2/3 of the tank depth +1 x width of wood+1cm)
Front Flap (Length of tank + 2 x width of wood + 1cm)(height = 1/3 of the tank depth + 1 x width of wood + 1 cm)

Then fix 4 of the blocks so that they are where the hood will rest on the tank rim / glass in the corners and one in the centre of the back panel.

Use 2 coats of yacht varnish on the inside to seal it and waterproof it. Use a traditional wood dye or varnish on the outside.

Leave to cure for several days. Hinge the lid on and jobs a good un.

Cost about £20 in for the lot
