I have noticed this phenomenon on several occasions. When I roast at high temperature in the oven, the aroma of cooking chicken escapes into the kitchen and fish room, which is contiguous with the kitchen. Coincident with the wafting aroma, activity in the five tanks increases dramatically for about 30 minutes. Do you think the chemicals in the aroma get solubilized into the tank water and cause a stir?

Since aromas are actually molecules that trigger olfactory nerves (smell sensors) it is quite possible if not likely that aromas could infuse into the tank water allowing the fish to smell the cooking chicken. In my opinion you should be banned for fish abuse as in letting the poor beasties smell dinner without giving them any... :oh::rofl:
