hi there,
about 10 days ago i purcvhased some new fish 1 died the next day and i put it down to stress, 5 days after the other new one got fin rot and died, i did a water test and found everything ok, and did a change since then i have lost 1 guppy through shredded tails / fin rot a day. This is really getting me down as i am now down to 2 fish. I have treated the water every day with fin rot treatment and nothing is touching them, i have checked the water and all are at 0 which is very strange. To make maters worse my balloon molly has got pop eye now.

what do i do? do i just keep treating the fin rot? leave it? or what because i cannot use the two treatments at once

this is really getting me down and making me consider keeping fish because my once lovely tank is now very empty

ps the tank has been cycled and running for 1 year now

any ideas?

sorry havent tested ph but never had any fluctuation before so scrub that idea out. No the temp has been constant all the time, never had a problem on this scale ever so dunno

Maybe the new fish introduced some kind of batcerial or fungal infection into your tank from the store? I would try a different treatment if your current one is not working....

there are only two different types of treatment for fin rot at all my lfs used both as well
just dunno

Hi,

I thought you was only supposed to use fin rot treatment one a week :/ (thats what it says on my bottle)

Chris

one bottle says once a week and the new one i bought says you can traet every 24 hours which i have been doing

Well, to accurately give you good advice we will need to know more about your tank.

size
filtration
inhabitants
parameters
new additions?
as much as you can tell us

30 l
filtration = ????? its a biorb
now have 1 guppy
4 baloon mollies
3 platys
amonia = 0
nitrite = 0
nitrate = just above 0

new additions 10 days ago but have later died
cheers

the new fish could have brought something in with them from the LFS. maybe try quarantining them for a bit?
