Great article on DIY - Building A Tank! I enjoyed reading this one.
I just got 40 gal tank for cheap 25 bucks! Only the catch is that it is missing bottom panel. I had made a couple of calls and found that it would cost me around 130 bucks or more to get either 3mm or 1/4 inch thick glass in hexagon shape. I am not sure if I should go for acrylic panel? I learned that silicone sealant won't bond well with acrylic panels.
Should I cut the glass by myself, which is considered cheaper... ?
As I shopped around, I found Lexan 100% silicone sealant that can be used on both acrylic and glass panels. Also, I found another brand name that can be used on both type of panels. I don't see anything like 99% or less silicone sealant in the hardware store.
