hello, i'mma n00b with a newfound betta fetish ^^ no, i'm joking

alright, here's the situation: two males, one passive one aggressive, living in a heater, lighted, filtered tank in a seperated guppy breeder. oy, anxiety and stress galore, though one is there only because he's a pig, and the other only because he'd freeze his fishie butt off if he stayed in his jar.

now, i'm buying a 5 gallon tank sometime this or next week, how to divide it. oh sure, "it's so easy! you just buy report covers and cut the spines and and" well, what is a report cover? i keep seeing dancing duotangs everytime someones says them. can i get a picture? also, what kind of glue to use? we have a tube of silicone glue downstairs which i, for some reason, think is okay, but i'm an idiot sometimes. is it okay, or should i spring for the sealent?

i think i'm a horrible betta-mommy, but mack disagrees; he built a bubble nest! my older boy makes bubbles, but they go everywhere, he doesn't seem to like making one nest, but rather tons of little ones, hehe.

also, mack refuses to eat, donny wolfs down his food. any suggestions? i can't exactly buy live food from my LPS, and they sell maybe three kinds of food and i can't go anywhere else. currently they're on Wardley Betta Food and Nutrafin Tropical Fish Flakes.

Xx gags for the poor fishies.

For live food, grow your own. I feed mine on Sea Monkeys (no, don't set the Sea Monkey Protection League on to me - they're only brine shrimps, honest! ).

hmm... sea monkeys... never thought of that o_O do tell, where can i buy these so called 'sea monkeys'?

(i'm a bit spazzy, did i mention? :fun: )

edit:: would my boys fair well in a 1-2 gallon tank well? how can i heat them? i know bettas need 75-82 degree water, would a 'small pals pen' light do the trick and heat them?

really, i just want a cost-efficient way to house my boys, so that they're happy and healthy. i'm fine with water changes, so long as they're once a week to go with my routine. could a 1 gallon tank fair a week without a change?

LoL I get my sister to breed the monkeys for me (gives her something to do) Anywasy i don't feed my fish this all teh tiem they really are nearly all water. They don't have a lot of nutrients. I tend to feed my fish frozen/flakes (Everything you need) but i give them brine shrimp as a treat ;)
