Hi, within the next year to 18months or so I will be looking at building/getting built a tank that effectively takes up a room. This is undecided as to whether it will be an outhouse, or if we find the right house with adequate facilities for it, a very nice show-piece in doors.
I have two schools of thought for the design and was hoping to get a small discussion going on what people though was best. The usual Rectangular box shape, which I suppose would end up being 12x6x3, or, the one I am really fond of which sort of follows the walls around the room but with two larger corner pieces on it. Below is a quick sketch I just knocked up as I was bored in work, but you get the picture. I will upload this drawing as soon as I get in, but it is the full length of 2 walls and half of the third. The corners are also not right angles, but cut accross to create larger areas. That will be clearer once I upload the drawing.
I will be looking to keep fish such as Bichirs, Knives, Cats (but not tankbusters), Generally oddballs that dont get above 2 foot. I would also like to try and get some Cichlid populations in there. My thought is to put about 40 Convicts in, 15 Severums or similar and maybe a few Oscars (obviously those numbers are guesses right now, but you get the picture. Other species can bre suggested by yourselves for this kind of population setup. Tank will be designed so these guys aren't just picked off easily by anything large enough. This will in turn hopefully get quite a few breeding pairs dotted about to keep a steady supply of youngsters if anything feels the need. I am just after thoughts on whether round the wall design is likely to be better for this kind of setup. Opinions and discussion very much appreciated here. I know it's been quiet of late
Cheers Vinny
