Hiya's,

Got my 6x2x2 setup, lights work fine, filters are fine, besides modding the light canopy i think i can start cladding the stand carcass shortly

Anyways ................

This is the largest tank i could get for the flat (2 flights of tight stairs so 6x2x2 was the max option :( ) So i have 2 externals drawing from one inlet end, and obviously i've done the same and have them both entering filtered water in one tube

So the Q or Q's are these

I need advice on what output for at least 2 circulators, i would really like a magnetic fixed type (glass is 10mm think but can vernier it if needbe)

I hmm i keep saying I i mean 'we' lol have loaches in 4 variants and obviously these like a current, at the moment i have just the flow from the filters aimed along the back of the tank entering right hand as i stand in front of the tank swooshing water to the left (where the intake is)

Again looking at the front in the left corner i have a small filter without media (hagen i think out of what i think was a 96L tank) and a rio 240 pump with a foam sponge to stop it sucking any fish in, these both shoot water from the left along the front to the right side of the tank, one is 1" below the water, t'other is 3" below the water

So seeing as i know nowt about circulating water in this tank from experience, anyone wanna jump in with suggestions ??

Ohh hydor takes my fancy if this helps

And i have live plants so take this into account (won't be heavily planted so i'd say moderately as we like to see some activity and when needed i'll trim back) and we have a decent amount of wood in and some holey rocks too

I'm all ears he he

Cheers

Tony

I would add a couple of the larger power heads to the tank. Some are made with suction cup attachments for the inside of the tank glass. That means they do not need to be held in place with magnetic forces through anything as thick as your glass. I have a set of glass cleaning magnets intended for such thick glass but they are using the rare earth magnets and are very expensive to buy, I got mine as a gift. The simple expedient of using a suction cup mount will save you a ton of cash when it comes to mounting your power heads.
If you really want to move a lot of water very well, why not consider a fountain pump. I use one in an outdoor tub that came with a nice sponge-like filter on the inlet to protect the pump. It moves about 2500 lph and is only about 15cm in length, width and height.

Hiya OM47

I see Hydor do a mag base for 15mm glass, the reasons i was considering mag bases were threefold, easy to place/adjust and with a generally round base this would A: be more pleasing to the eye and B: make for slightly easier cleaning of surrounding glass

But i hear where you're coming from price-wise

I will read up on the fountain pump you've wrote about ;)

Cheers for the reply :)

Take Care

Personally I've no experience with them but I know koralia pumps are very popular for making current in marine tanks, you could try those.

Hiya's,

Yeah those are the ones i've been reading up on

A guy at a lfs had a 150g tank same dimensions, i keep calling in but he's always working the garden centre part of the business

Hopefully i'll manage to chat to him and see what he used, he did say weeks ago but memory cell never absorbed the info (was excited at getting some yo-yo's at the time :) )

Will search marine forums after dinner

Cheers
