Ahh... I knew this time would come. Bully fish in my 170L. The pearl gourami like chasing the corys and diving for them, and the red tail shark likes diving for the gourami. The gourami seem to get a kick out of pestering the corydoras, whereas the red tail shark lunges for the gourami when he seems to be feeling claustrophobic or walled in. The gourami now swim far away from the shark on instinct, but the corys don't seem fazed by their bullies.
Not sure what to do. I'm quite surprised that the red tail shark doesn't attack my bottom feeders. I suppose because the gourami are much larger, they invade his personal bubble more so he's more likely to be aggressive. Not willing to rehome the red tail, so I may rehome the gourami at a later date. I believe this would solve a large part of the problem, but at the same time I'm apprehensive as it might lead to the red tail shark attacking other fish. He's not by any means aggressive, violent or dangerous (yet), but I do fear that this could become the case over time.
For the time being, what should I do? My 54L (14G) currently houses 7 guppies (soon to be ~14), and I was considering putting the gourami in there as a temporary solution. I don't currently have somewhere reliable to rehome them, and my dad seems to be getting sick of me talking about rehoming fish at this point so I'd rather not bother him, which means that I would have no idea how long the gourami would be in the 54L, which leads me to be cautious of doing this.
Sorry about how much of a worry wart I am! Let me know if anyone has suggestions or advice on what I could do.
Side note: The gourami and shark are all around 2" long each for reference.
