Is it possible to join two tanks together to make one big one. i got an extra 20gal i may have to throw in the garbage, if i can somehow join it with my 30gal it would be cool way to re-use. any ideas??

Hmm, if you really get the silicone off good with a razor blade and everything, it is possible, but I'd rather just use the tanks as breeding tanks, quarantine tanks, sumps, mini projects, frag tank etc. etc. I dont think it would look nice if you joined them. What you can do is drill both of them in the side and connect them with some pipes, and have one of them a certain type of tank (say SPS with strong lights) and the other tank another type (say clams). Have one tank drain into the sump and have the sump return back to the other tank, that way water circulates both tanks better rather than a simple pipe.

There should be more cooler ways to get creative as well.

If they are the same height, you could make an L shaped tank with a bulkhead between the 2.

I was actually thinking about this the other day, but it would prolly work better with larger tanks...

If you put 2 right next to eachother and had one be a predatory tank and 1 be a reef and just have rocks cascading from high on the reef side to low on the fowlr tank, but scape it in such a way that it looks like the rocks are continuous. (if that makes sense)

You could make a 30 gallon and use the 20 as a sump. Or like musho said, make them into QT tanks (always useful), frag tanks, or save em for a new project if you want.

well i'm clearing out my 10gal soon and that will be my QT tank. I could seperate the tank and make a divider for fish to swim about inside my 30gal atm. like make some strange glass shaped put holes in them here and there like a maze.

It'd be cool if you had a rimless aquarium that you could make a reef in the middle with and put some non reef safe guys in the larger outside aquarium!

Like have some puffers or eels or large angels on the outside 200gal, and a 60 gallon reef on the inside and they can just swim around the outside?

that's a neat idea, or put together a odd shape of glass in the middle and place a beta LOL. but how would that filter :p
