Tank Backgrounds

The plastic 'sheet' backgrounds dont look as good on the back of the tank as they do in the LFS lol, so Ive been thinking of painting the back black, because it will show the fishes colours etc etc.
My question is, has anyone done this with their tank? What paint should I use? Will the smell pollute the water and w/e??

use consturcation paper

you can use just plain old black emulsion..

and paint it on the outside of the tank. that way it won`t get in the water.

however it may rub off where cables and filter pipes sit over time

just athought the paint rubbing off could be avoided by adding a plastic background on after the paint has dried...
