ive had a piece of bogwood for about 8 months in a tank and its still producing tanins whats the best way to get rid of it or stop the water going yellow ?

ive even soaked it in boiling hot water fro a few days

thanks

There is always going to be some tannins in the water as long as you keep the wood in the tank. But i really does leasten over time from it just leaching alot out and taking it away by water changes. I know you said 8 months but itll take longer than that to get rid of all the tannins.

IMO tanks with bogwood that are semi-tainted with tanins from the wood look really cool due to the natural way the tanins make the water look.

I mean sure the whole "crystal clear" water thing is nice but you can instantly tell that oh gee thats an aquarium alright whereas if theres tanins in the water it looks as if you are looking into a lake or something which i think gives it a sorta superiority over a tank that is your run-of-the-mill deafening clear water.
