I love tangs! But one thing that I just thought I'd tell people is that most tangs will eventually require a tank of 100 or 125 gallons plus! (yellow and kole tangs can be kept in 75). That might seem a little extreme but it's true, I've read it in at least 10 or 20 places.
Just thought I'd let you know, hopefully it will save someone some greif later :D

p.s. Always check the minimum tank size for any fish that you buy and make sure they have enough swimming space!

Good Luck with all your tanks :D

i don't think it is necessary to have that size... I think the fish just wont grow to FULL size. My friend has a yellow tang and blue hippo for over 2 years in a 46 gallon tank. They are mighty healthy but the hippio is about 3 inches.. and stopped growing.. and he swear that the yellow tang got smaller from 2 years ago.. of course it would be great to have a huge tank but i don't think it is necessary....

it is true yellow tangs swim miles and miles in the wild every day... also they like to be keept in groups of 5 or more... i wanted to get tangs so i reserched them before i got any, (i didnt get any) so thats sorta how i know... lol ok...?

That's interesting. I have a yellow tang in my 55 gal and was thinking about adding a blue hippo or powder, or maybe naso. Anyways, I didn't realize that they swim so far in the wild. Kinda' puts a whole new perspective on the fish aquarium thing on a whole. Woah!  I gotta think this whole thing over!

Of course you can always keep them in a smaller tank, but they will die much easier and be unhappy! :(
